Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock. First chime, then second, and till the twelfth.
"Shut up", Tia Kyler murmured. This was a nasty night when she couldn't go to sleep from the start, and the clock distracted her even more. Midnight, the hour of devils and their servants, the eight-year-old thought. Just like in that tale she had been told once... But tonight her negative feelings were increased by offence.
Tia did have immunity for all the jokes and mockery and other types of tricks which could be thrown to her, but this time it had been too much. No, there hadn't been any humiliating, there had been too rational minds. And all because of weird things going on. Last night the alarm had woken everyone up, and it was Tia who had spotted a human figure in the window. But her family lived at ninth floor, and there are no such long-legged burglars... fine, no kidding. Anyway, the security camera had managed to catch a snapshot of that man outside.
